Pepper seeds will germinate in anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending partly on variety and also on soil temperature. A temperature between 75 and 80 degrees produces faster results than a cooler soil. Soil temperature is usually about five degrees cooler than your room temperature. That is why some gardeners will use gentle bottom heat or set the pot in a warm location when trying to start seeds that prefer a warm soil.
