I am looking for a vine that will grow in full shade, however, I can't come up with one. Any suggestions? |
That is a tough location, as most vines want at least partial sun. Ampelopsis brevipedunculata or blueberry climber will take full shade. It it deciduous and leaves will turn red in the fall and drop. It also has berries that turn blue in fall. It does require support and can reach about 20 feet. Another vine that will take any exposure including shade is Parthenocissus. There are several varieties: common names include virginia creeper, woodbine and Boston ivy. It is also deciduous, turning orangey-red in fall. However, they have clinging tendrils that are very hard to remove, so it's not a good choice against the siding of a house. |
