I saw on a web page that some sort of soil additives is needed to allow the tree seedlings of conifer trees to absorb the nutrients of the soil. What are they and where can I purchase them? |
I'm not familiar with what you are describing. Many (though not all) conifers prefer acidic soil, so if an area has very alkaline (high pH) soil, you may want to add something like sulfur to acidify the soil. It's true that soil pH affects how well a plant can take up nutrients. I would not add anything to raise or lower soil pH (the measure of soil acidity/alkalinity) until you have a soil test done. Your local Cooperative Extension office should have soil test kits for sale. |
