I would like to start a herb garden but area is mostly shade. Need names of shade herbs, or do I need to give this up and think of sun area? Shade area is near the kitchen.

Most culinary herbs are native to the Mediterranean and prefer full sun, at least 6-8 hours per day, or at least morning sun and some protection from late afternoon sun. I know it's handy to have herbs near the kitchen, but most of them won't thrive in moderate or full shade. Mint can take some shade, as can french sorrel and parsley.
