| The most recent numbers I have are from the 1997-1998 survey performed by the National Gardening Association and the Gallup Organization, Inc. At that time, "67% of all households, or an estimated 68 million households participated in one or more types of indoor and outdoor lawn and garden activities." As a region, the Midwest accounted for 16.4 million of those households.
