I am new at gardening. Please tell me the difference betwen Annuals and perennials?

Annuals grow for only one season; during that season they grow, bloom, set seed, and then die. Biennials grow from seed the first season, live over winter, then bloom, set seed and die the second year. Perennials will grow and bloom for at least three years.
