What do you recommend to kill slugs and snails in flower beds with roses and perennials? I have used several brands of snail bait and absolutely nothing works.

You might have success using the traps or using diatomaceous earth sprinkled on the soil surface. This needs to be renewed after rain or watering, but in my experience it is quite effective. You may also want to disturb the mulch and soil surface where they harbor during the late winter and early spring to expose them to the weather and to the birds and other predators.
