Since autumn clematis blooms in the late summer, should it be pruned back this spring? If so, how much should it be pruned back? Thank you for your help.

This particular clematis blooms on the current year's growth. It may be pruned back very hard in early spring, or it may be pruned lightly if size control is not an issue. For heavier flowering, a hard pruning seems to work the best.
