What is the best method for starting snap peas indoors before transplanting. I have tried dampening them and placing them in a plastic bag. However, a black fungus growth appears and the seeds become sticky and adhere to one another.

Usually, snap peas are simply planted in the garden where they are to grow. This is because they are difficult to transplant. If you want to give the seeds a bit of a head start, you can soak them in a dish of plain water overnight right before planting. Then use an inoculant at planting time.
