Last spring, my peonies grew many flowers, but most of their petals dropped immediately after blooming. How can I prevent this from happening again?

Peonies flower for only a short while and then the petals just do fall naturally as the blooms shatter. Staking may help them hold up a little better. A heavy rain storm or unusually hot weather can make them fall off a little faster, but there is nothing you can do to prevent it. That is part of their charm.
