Melons like a warm soil and do not tolerate any frost at all, so wait to plant until about a week after your last frost date when it has had some time to warm up. If you want to start them earlier, allow about two weeks or so from seeding to transplanting about a week after the frost date. If you don't know your frost date, check with your county extension or a neighbor who gardens a lot. Enjoy those melons!
