Please tell me how to organically control spider mites on oregano and cilantro so as not to destroy the food quality. Soapy water didn't work.

Soapy water as well as a similar product, insecticidal soap, both need to be applied several times a few days apart. You could also try making a hot pepper spray by adding cut-up hot peppers to water and blending them. Filter the solution and spray it onyour plants. Try spraying on just a portion of the plant to make sure the plant will tolerate it. A commercial product made of hot peppers and paraffin wax is also effective against spider mites. All of these sprays are non-toxic and can be used on food crops. Both insecticidal soap and the hot pepper wax spray are available from Peaceful Valley Farm Supply, P.O. Box 2209, Grass Valley, CA 95945, (916) 272-4769.
