Answer: You're correct - you'll need both a male and a female plant in order to harvest kiwi fruit. Female flowers have a slight swelling (ovary) directly behind the petals where the flower attaches to the stem. Male flowers are straight. It's really difficult to tell which is which unless you compare the flowers of a male and a female side by side.
