I am unable to locate a reference to any plant by that common name. The closest commmon name I know of is Maidenhair and that would refer to several varieties of fern. "Wort" is an old word meaning herb or root or plant, and maiden may indicate a usage for "female complaints" but since the maidenhairs are not closely associated with such a use, I doubt this is what you are looking for. Many common names have a localized use and are not standard; I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.
