| I ordered roses last fall and have started receiving them already. Well, there is still snow out of the ground where I live. I am not an expert gardener and this is my first attempt with roses. I can't get into the ground it is still frozen. I don't have a basement to put them in, in all reality, I don't know if they are dormant or not, they look pretty alive to me. What can I do to keep them alive??? I know this is more than one question, but can I transplant them and keep them inside until I can get them outside? Help!!!! Thank you, Linda |
| Bare root roses need to be kept cool so they will stay dormant, or if they have begun to leaf out, they need to be planted immediately. You could plant them in large containers of soilless mix and set them outside in a sheltered location out of the wind so they can wake up naturally with the season. (Pile snow or mulch around the exterior of the pots to keep the roots insulated.)Alternatively, you could contact the suppliers and explain the situation and see what they recommend. |
