| Why do some Otto Luken Laurel have a lot of flowers and some have none? The ones in my yard have no flowers and I like the looks of them better, but most, if not all of yours in Charlotte have an abundance of flowers. Can I specify the ones without? |
| As a group, the cherry laurels would not be separated in to blooming vs nonblooming varieties. According to Michael Dirr's "Manual of Woody Landscape Plants" the Otto Luyken form of Prunus laurocerasus is a heavy blooming form with this feature holding true even when the plants are grown in shade. If your plants do not bloom, it could be because they are pruned and the flower buds are removed, or because they are younger plants, or for some other cultural reason. |
