According to "Container Gardening for Dummies" by Bill Marken, ISBN 0-7645-5057-8, it is possible to grow corn in a container if it is large enough and deep enough and the soil is rich enough. He does suggest however using smaller varieties of corn such as: Sugar Buns, Quickie, Tom Thumb popcorn, or ornamentals Wampum or Little Jewels. He suggests sowing 20 seeds per half barrel.
