| I am new gardener with a not-so-new garden. Existing shrub roses bloomed in early spring and not since. Do they need fertilizing? Also have a tea rose in a container recently transplanted, when do I fertilize it? |
| Your shrub rose is probably a type that blooms once a year, rather than one that blooms more or less continuously; if the plant looks generally healthy then the flowering cycle is probably not due to a nutrient deficiency. Plan to fertilize your roses in the spring. You can mulch your plants with compost and/or fertilize using a water soluble fertilizer. Always water the plants well after fertilizing. Be sure to keep roses bushes watered during dry spells. |
