The London Planeree (Platanus x acerifolia) and our native Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis) are closely related. The London Planetree is sometimes considered a hybrid form of the sycamore, being a cross between our P. occidentalis and P. orientalis, the Oriental Planetree. In anser to your question, they are quite similar but they are not the same.
