I currently am living in an apt. that faces east and so have shade half the day. Are there any herbs (in particular the common cooking herbs and any strain of lavender) that can grow in the shade or with sun only less than half the day? Of course, they will be potted. |
Sun all morning is plenty for many herbs, especially if it includes the hour of noon. You should be able to grow chives, parsley, tricolor sage, basil, dill and cilantro (both short lived), a bay tree and scented geraniums (keep from year to year indoors), as well as thymes, rosemary and possibly even a small lavender such as Munstead or Hidcote or even a Spanish lavender or lavandula in a larger pot. Enjoy your herb garden! |
