I recently bought a new house. However, last fall the grass was not given a final mow before the cold weather set in. Now that its getting a little warm, I was wondering when I can give it its first cutting of the year. I am located in North New Jersey

You can begin cutting as soon as it begins to grow. Try to mow often enough that you do not take off more than one third the total height at a time. In spring, this can mean mowing more often than once a week.
