The Q&A Archives: Is there such a thing as tomato trees?

Question: Is there such a thing as a tomato tree and if there is where can they be purchased? I was told that these trees produce tomato s year round.

Answer: Any tomato will produce fruit year round if it gets enough intense light (10-12 hours of sun). Also, indeterminate tomato vines keep growing until they're killed by frost, insects, etc., and I've often seen pictures of a gardener harvesting theirtomatoes from atop a stepladder! Once a tomato plant gets to be old and woody, production drops, so it's best to start new plants each year.
