The Q&A Archives: Planting Bulbs In Spring?

Question: I purchased a lot of bulbs in the fall & planted most of them--alliums, daffodils, muscari. I stored the unplanted ones in a closet. When I checked on them yesterday, I noticed they are starting to grow. Many have 2 or 3 inch greens coming up. My question is: what can I do with them? Can I plant them now, or will I be able to plant them in the fall?? If I can't plant now, how can I best store them until fall??

Answer: Unfortunately it is not possible to store them until next fall. Since the alternative is to throw them away, you might try planting them now.
