Ants can certainly be a nuisance, especially when they eat your long-awaited berries! The least toxic repellent for ants is boiling water poured down the hills. If you repeat this procedure several times, it can deter the ants enough that they decide to relocate. Another repellent is diatomaceous earth, an abrasive powder that you sprinkle around your plants. It's available from Gardener's Supply, (800) 863-1700.
