The Q&A Archives: Tulips After Blooming

Question: How long dhould I wait to dig up tulips after they have bloomed?

Answer: The foliage must be allowed to grow and mature, then turn brown and fade before the bulbs are dug. This process rebuilds the bulb's strength so it can rebloom again next year. Although some gardeners dig and store their tulip bulbs each summer, it is not strictly necessary to do so.
