The Q&A Archives: Old Seeds

Question: Will seeds from 2000 that are still in the unopened package, be alright to plant in the 2001 season?

Answer: In all probability yes, assuming they were stored under reasonable conditions. You may need to plant a bit thicker than usual since seed viability decreases with time. A few seeds such as corn, lettuce and probably onions would need to be replaced.
