About mid-summer, my impatiens are attacked by something. While others nearby are full and lush, a few here and there look sick and half the plants missing. Do I have a fungal or insect problem, or is bugsbunny stopping bye???

It would be unusual for a disease problem to occur suddenly, and to take just a plant here and a plant there. Normally you would notice spotting or similar symptoms as the problem begins. I would tend to expect it to be physical damage if it happens overnight. Bunnies, wood chucks and deer are all likely culprits for munching.
