We'd like to plant a row of forsythias in an existing bed at the head of our driveway. Do forsythia do well out in the open or do they need a more sheltered location, such as, up against the house? Also, do they stay green all summer long? Thanks.

Forsythia really gorw best in full sun in an open location. They are however very large shrubs, so make sure there is ample room for them. If not, you will be forced to prune them very often and will destroy their natural shape.

Forsythia bushes stay green all summer long, but lose their leaves in late fall.
