We built a planter box at the bottom of a bank and I am looking for some type of perennial that will cascade down the wall of the box. We like cascading petunias but I would like to get a perennial that I do not have to plant every year. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately I can't think of a flowering perennial that would provide that type of effect for you and be hardy in a container situation. You could try English ivy for the trailing effect, but of course it does not bloom.
