I am looking for a shrub that is light green with feathery leaves and turns a fire red in the fall. The shrub is full and somewhat oval shaped. I saw some several years ago and as a joke a friend put glasses on the plant and it resembled Cousin It from The Adams Family. That is the best way I can describe this plant. I would like to know the name of it because I would like to put some around my home. |
There may be other possibilities, but the plant that most readily comes to my mind is Acer palmatum, the Japanese Maple. It's slow growing, multi-stemmed, and has an airy and delicate appearance. The leaves are feathery, soft green in the spring, turning to scarlet in the autumn. |
