We have a small greenhouse (plastic ccovered 4 ft x 6ft 26 inches high in the center)we have started some annuals and perennials in trays. They are progressing nicely. They are a couple of inches tall now. When and how much should these plants be fed? Does it depend on the flower type or is there a general rule that can be used? |
There are some plants that have special preferences and on a commercial basis many plant crops are treated specifically. On a home basis however, it usually works well to use a very dilute solution of general purpose complete water soluble fertilizer according to the label instructions. Some gardeners will also look for a fertilizer supplying micronutrients, or may use a compost tea to supplement the basic fertilization. Since the plants are only there for a short while and it is not necessary to have them "blooming in the packs" in order to sell them, you have some leeway in your practices. |
