The Q&A Archives: Straw For Garden Mulch?

Question: Is straw good to use for a mulch in a vegetable garden?

Answer: Organic mulches including straw are fine for a vegetable garden. I use straw in my own vegetable garden. Use a thick layer to hold down weeds and help preserve soil moisture. It can be worked into the soil later on when it has broken down and become soft and soggy.
