| Last week I planted my New Rose bushes. Now they are saying the Temp. is going to be in the 30's for a day or so. What can I do to prevent them from dieing. Please help. |
| Roses are very cold tolerant plants, and on established bushes there may even be foliage present for much of the winter. Dormant plants should be allowed to wake up naturally with the season, they do not need extra protection. Plants that have been forced into active growth by being potted and kept in a greenhouse may be unnaturally tender in the spring. These plants can be held in a sheltered location to acclimate prior to planting or can sometimes be protected by covering them on cold nights with a frost blanket/row cover fabric or with an overturned cardboard box or old sheet or similar material. The covering should be removed in the morning. |
