You stated that one should flush out their flower containers every month or so to get rid of salt build up. How does one do that?

I set my plants in the sink and flood the soil with water until it runs out of the drainage holes, allow the soil to drain for 30 minutes, flood the soil again, allow to drain for another 30 minutes, then flood a third time. This should leach out any salt build up.
