How do you plant a strawberry pot so that the dirt doesn't run out when you water it?

Eventually, the plant roots will hold the soil in place. In the meantime, you have to water it slowly and gently. One way is to drill holes into a piece of pvc pipe and insert the pipe down through the center of the pot, and pour the water into that rather than into the soil directly. This allows the water to soak into the soil slowly and thoroughly without causing a flood.
