In the front garden we are planting about 12 Gardenia August (6 tall x 5 ) and we're looking for 2-3 feet tall perennials and annuals to plant in front of Gardenias. Also bulbs for border grass. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciatedon what to plant.

There are so many choices it's hard to come up with a concise list. (Your local library or bookstore might carry some regional gardening books that would have photos and detailed descriptions. Or chat with a neighbor about their favorite plants.)

Perennials to consider are: daylily, aster, coreopsis, foxglove, larkspur, coneflowers, and poppies.

Annuals include begonias, petunias, cornflowers, nasturtiums, and calendula.

Bulbs include Camassia, Crinum, and Allium spp.

Periwinkle (vinca minor) makes a nice ground cover.
