The Q&A Archives: Fertilizing Azaleas

Question: When do I fertilize Exbury azaleas-before they bloom or after?

Answer: Fertilizer encourages new growth so I always wait until after the blooming is finished before fertilizing my azaleas. New stem growth will begin when flowering stops, and new flower buds will develop on the new stems for the following spring's flower display.
