| Is there any way I can make my job of weeding the garden any easier? I want to be able to enjoy the gardening with not as much effort put into weeding it constantly. |
| Weed an area thoroughly and then put down a layer of newspaper with several inches of mulch on top. You can skip the newspaper among plants but it helps on pathways. Mulch inhibits weeds and as it breaks down it provides nutrients to the soil. Any organic matter can be used as mulch. Try compost, bark, wood chips, straw, or pine needles. Be sure to pull any weeds as soon as they appear. Don't let them flower and go to seed, as one of their survival strategies is to produce a couple zillion seeds per plant. Good luck! |
