The Q&A Archives: Growing Tuberose

Question: How do I grow tuberrose and where can I purchase the seeds?

Answer: Tuberose are normally sold as bulbs or tubers and can be purchased from Burpee. Just call 1-800-888-1447 for a catalog. They are a warm season bulb that can be left in the ground as a perennial in your area. The tubers send up white, fragrant flowers on stems up to 3 feet tall that bloom in summer. They come in single and double forms depending on the varieties. They will bloom every summer and after about 4 years you should dig up the clumps in spring, separate out the tubers and replant adding compost in the new planting hole. The leaves are grasslike and the plant grows best in well drained soil in full sun.
