I have mulch about 2" deep where I want to plant my iris. How deep should they be planted because of the mulch? Thanks.

Iris rhizomes should be planted just beneath the soil surface. I'd remove the mulch material, plant the rhizomes so they're just barely covered with soil, then replace the mulch. Be sure to water them in well after planting.
