Blue Berries - Knowledgebase Question

If I plant blue berries among my rasberries will there be a problem with cross pollination that would ruin the flavor of either berry. Also do you have to plant more than 1 blue berry plant to get started. Thanks, Bruce

Although cross pollination would not be a problem, the two prefer very different soil with blueberries requiring an extremely acidic soil that is humusy and evenly moist yet well drained. For this reason you would not want to grow the two intermixed together. Most blueberry varieties require a pollinator. You might want to check with your county extension to see which varieties they are recommending as doing particularly well in your area.
