Calochortus is a spring blooming bulb that goes dormant for the summer, it is native to the western coastal US and requires special conditions, however the specific conditions depend somewhat on which kind of calochortus you are trying to grow. However most like light shade, excellent drainage and very dry soil during the summer when they are dormant.
