I read that Rose of Sharon needs full sun to partial sun. Can you be more specific. We would like to plant them on the north side of our home. They would get some morning sun (1-3 hours) then a large Spruce shades them the rest of the time. Is this enough for them to bloom and grow?

Unfortunately, these plants prefer full sun all day long. They will tolerate some shade, but will still do best with at least six hours of full sun with those hours including noon. A northern exposure would not be sunny enough.
