| My neighbor gave me several "runners" from her red twig dogwood. They are pretty small and because the roots formed in the middle of the branch, the new tree is basically flat. My question: How quickly will this sapling resemble a tree and get to a good height? Should I just buy older plants? |
| Red twigged dogwoods (Cornus sanguinea) is a fast growing multistemmed shrubby form of dogwood, it is not actually a tree. It will grow quickly in moist soil and full sun. By next summer you should have a decent sized plant. Trim it back hard in very early spring to encourage branching and new shoots from below ground. |
