Would compost made from fish waste/maple leaves/topsoil be good for a vegetable garden? I live way out in the country so have no problems with the smell, animals or flies/maggots that may develop. Any precautions? |
Animal wastes in the compost pile can attract flies, rodents and other creatures. If the compost pile is well managed and the temperature is high enough (140 degrees for sustained periods) there should be no problem with your practice. If you are a casual composter, it's possible to bring insects and diseases into your veggie garden by using inadequately composted material--especially garden debris. |
