I am experiencing a problem with birds nesting in my hanging plants (Mexican Heathers). They are located outside of my apartment. The first time it happen I thought it was cute, it was fine with me. But after they were old enough and flew away, which took approximently 2 months. My plant was not the same. And now another set of birds are trying to do the same to my other Mexican Heather. Can I stop this? Currently I've placed them on the floor on my porch. any info will be deeply apprciated. C

I've had a similar experience! Birds seem to be creatures of habit and once they find a nice nesting place, they remember exactly where it is. You might be able to protect the plants by stringing fishing line through them and around the supports for the basket; this should confuse the birds and make the pots seem less attractive. You might also try moving them on a daily basis so they seem less "safe". Good luck in outwitting the birds!
