The Q&A Archives: Planting Shallots

Question: When planting shallots is there a top and bottom to the side that needs to be pointing up?

Answer: There is a top and a bottom, but the bulbs will "right" themselves if you plant them on their sides. I think it's better to plant them sideways than upside down! Plant about 1" deep in prepared garden soil. Hope your harvest is terrific!
