Why won't my "Heavenly Blue" morning glories grow blue fowers? The first year I planted them, they were beautiful! and blue! All the following years-- the last 4-5 years-- they turn a deep purple and I am terribly dissappointed. Is it my soil? Or the Ph? What can I do? Please help me! |
Since the first year the plants were truly the color you expected, then I would suspect your seed strain is not stable and the seedlings are reverting to a more "natural" color or crossing with other varieties. To avoid this, you might try starting afresh with a fresh batch of "Heavenly Blue" seeds each year. |
I planted heavenly blue this year and the color was as expected. We have had a few cold nights this week and today all my flowers were purple. (Medium purple same depth of tone as the heavenly blue only all the flowers were purple.) Sky was overcast and light drizzle throughout the day. I am thinking color is effected by the conditions. All the flowers had been blue and today all the flowers were purple. |
