this is my first year with tulips. i planted in the fall, and they bloomed beautifully this year. however, i noticed that quite a few of them seem to have little babies next to them, that also flowered little tulips. when can i dig them up to split the bulbs? do i have to wait until fall, or can i do it during the summer? also, what is the best way to split them? |
If you dig up the clumps of bulbs, you will find individual bulbs of various sizes close together and they will separate pretty much all by themselves. Wait until the foliage has died back and dried out completely, then carefully lift the bulbs. Store them in a dry and airy location and replant in the fall. |
