The Q&A Archives: Climbing Fig

Question: Will the climbing fig survive in full sun if it is watered daily? If not, what would you suggest to cover 40 ft.of chain link fence in full sun?

Answer: Ficus pumila, the climbing fig, is an evergreen vine with small, leathery, dark green leaves. It's a vigorous-growing, clinging vine and the dense branches will adhere to any surface. It's a handsome choice for climbing walls, poles, arbors and fences. Provide full to partial sun and water as required. Climbing fig is fast-growing to 25 to 30 feet long. It should fit your purpose well.
